Moving Impact e-Mobility Workshop in Accra, Ghana – 2 March 2026
On 2 March 2026, a full day stakeholder workshop was held in Accra, Ghana to consider opportunities and requirements for two and three-wheeler electric vehicle deployment in Ghana. The workshop included over 70 participants from government ministries, mobility, energy and green finance sectors, non-governmental organisations and universities. The workshop was jointly planned and delivered by the University of Energy and Natural Resources (Ghana), University of Leeds (UK) and Imperial College (UK).

The workshop began with presentations and a joint Q&A discussion with project team members Professor Samuel Gyamfi, Professor Adria Junyent-Ferre, Dr Chiara Candelise and Dr Sheridan Few. These were followed by presentations and Q&As with guest speakers Lord Awusi of the Ghanaian Ministry of Transport, Jorge Appiah of Solar Taxi, Joyce Caitlyn Ocansey of the Ghanaian Energy Commission and Professor Goran Strbac of Imperial College London. In the second half of the workshop, two breakout sessions were held in which workshop participants considered barriers, enablers, critical decisions and required evidence to support the deployment of two and three-wheeler electric vehicles.

The workshop generated rich discussion and valuable outputs as well as providing a great opportunity for networking and connection building. We are very grateful to the participants for attending and for the huge effort of the project team members who planned, organised and delivered the event. Our particular thanks go to Master of Ceremonies Romeo Tweneboah Koduah; and to Dr Felix Amankwah Diawuo And Francisca Asare-Bediako for co-ordinating the event.

The workshop was funded by the ISPF Institutional Support ODA Grant, supported by Research England. The work was in addition supported by UK Research and Innovation through the Ayrton Challenge Programme [Award reference UKRI314].
